Shortcut

Documentation right part Shortcut

In march and April 2024 I stayed as an artist in residence at the Bierumer School. There I started a research into the state of being: being in a hurry.

What forms can haste take? And how does rushing to catch the train differ from the rush that has generally creeped into our society? A society in which everything has to be faster and more efficient. And what does haste do to our bodies?

In my exhibition and work Shortcut, I presented two installations in the attic of the Bierumer School. In one, I walk through the silt of the Ems with a trolley, in the other I climb a tree in my summer dress and projected the image as fragments on a wooden scaffold supporting the roof of the attic.

The two films and installations gained meaning in the Bierumer School through the exhibition's main theme of being in a hurry. However, the work is open to interpretation and has been presented in a few other places outside the context of this exhibition and around other themes.
